Well today our precious little monkey is 1 year old! Cant believe how fast the first year flew by. We celebrated his birthday on Saturday, December 18, 2010. He had a monkey themed birthday party. We had mommy's special punch, chocolate dipped bananas, pb&j sandwiches, tropical fruit salad, and of course cake! Gabe loves his cake and ate a bunch of it and got sooo messy! Gabe got alot of presents including a lot of clothes and pj's, a learning drum, a dinosaur learning toy, a little driver toy, 1st birthday rubber duckies, a monkey toy, shoes, socks, a monogrammed keepsake taggie blanket with his name and birthday on it, and im sure alot more im leaving out. Also a leapfrog learning table and a fisher price peek a blocks gobble n go hippo. Here is an overview of Baby Gabe's very 1st year!!!

I woke up on the morning of December 20th having contractions. Wasnt due for nearly another month. Once they were 5 min. apart for about 2 hr. i decided to head on over to the hospital. Once I got there, they checked me and I was 3 cm. dilated. They had me walk the halls for 1 hr. then go back to be checked again. While walking the contractions got stronger and very close together, after an hour they checked me again and i was 4 cm. so they decided to admit me. I wanted an epidural but they were backed up so i had a long wait. Once i was 7 cm dilated i finally got to get my epidural but they had alot of trouble getting it in. They finally got it and it was great! Soon after i got to start pushing and after 3 good pushes baby Elias Gabriel was born at 5 pm weighing in at 7lb 4 oz. and was 19 inches long. He looked just like his brother Nick Nick.
Gabe had his very 1st Christmas when he was only 5 days old! He was so tiny that he fit into his stocking. lol. He got a few little presents for Christmas too!
At 1 week old, Gabe was breastfeeding like a champ! He slept most of the day and he only woke up once a night to feed. He hated to have his sponge baths. He also went to church for the very 1st time. He lost quite a bit of weight but was feeding well. He wore sizes preemie and newborn in clothes and diapers. He also had a pair of preemie shoes he could fit!!!
At 2 weeks old, Gabe started gaining his weight back finally! His umbilical cord fell off and he had a bath in his baby bath tub and hated it. He still wore preemie and newborn clothes, newborn diapers, and his preemie size shoes.
At 3 weeks old, Gabe was a little piggie and ate constantly. He started getting very alert and still hated baths or to have his clothes taken off. He still only woke up about once sometimes twice a night to feed. he still wore preemie and newborn clothes, newborn diapers, and preemie sized shoes.
At 1 month old, Gabe was 8lb. 14 oz. and 19.5 inches long. He still hated to be undressed or to get a bath. He still ate constantly and was always nursing. He still wore preemie and newborn clothes, newborn diapers, and preemie and newborn shoes.
At 5 weeks old, Gabe started to coo at us and his toys on his swing/playmat. He still hated baths and to be undressed but he didnt scream as much either. He started outgrowing some of his clothes and he wore newborn and 0/3 months in clothes, a size 1 diaper, and newborn size shoes.
At 6 weeks old, it was like Gabe was a completely different baby. He got real colicky and all he did was cry unless he was latched on to the breast and all he wanted to do was eat. He began to stop sleeping in his bassinette and cried most of the night too. i wasnt getting any sleep.He also still hated to take a bath so i began to stick him in the bath with me at night and he liked it much better if he was in the tub with me. He was wearing some newborn stuff but mostly 0/3 months in clothes, a size 1 diaper, and a 0 in shoes.
At 7 weeks, Gabe was still a very fussy baby. He still cried all day and wanted to be constantly latched on to the breast. I started putting him in his crib to sleep and he started sleeping a little better but still woke up about 3-4 times per night. He loved getting in the bath with me though. He was cooing some and smiled at me once. He was wearing mostly 0/3 months clothes, but could fit a couple of newborn things, a size 1 diaper and a 0 in shoes. Gabe also had his very 1st valentines day and was dressed in a cute valentines day outfit.
At 2 months old, Gabe started sleeping a little better at night and was more alert during the day.
He only woke up about 1 time to eat around 5 am. He still cried alot too and was a little behind on milestones like smiling. At his check up he was 11lb. 12 oz. and was 21.5 inches. he was wearing a 0/3 mos in clothes, a 1 in diapers, and a 0 in shoes.
At 3 months Gabe had lost some weight due to thrush. It caused him to not be able to eat well. He started sleeping better too and also started smiling and cooing at us alot. he wore a 0/3 and 3/6 mos in clothes, a size 2 diaper, and a 0 in shoes.
Gabe had his very 1st Easter on April 4th. He didnt do much because he was so little but he did get to dress in a cute easter outfit and got a basket with a bunch of baby toys and books in it. He also got a bib that said baby's 1st Easter. We had an Easter dinner here at the house and Maw gave him a little taste. Then we went to Milliken Park which was Gabe's 1st time and he loved being outside.

At 4 months, Gabe started to be such a happy baby. He was always smiling, cooing, and laughing. He went to bed around 9 and woke up around 7. He also started a small amount of solids. He was 14lb. 2 oz. and was 23.5 inches long. He wore a 0/3 and 3/6 mos in clothes, a size 2 diaper and a 1 in shoes. He could sometimes roll from tummy to back and was learning to try to sit independently.
At 5 months, Gabe loved to be held and cuddled. he wasnt very mobile as he preferred to be held or cuddled. He was on stage 1 baby foods. He was in a size 3/6 mos, in clothes, a size 3 in diapers, and a size 1 and 2's in shoes.
At 6 months Gabe still wasnt mobile at all. He didnt sit, roll, scoot, crawl, or anything. he was behind developmentally. he was also eating solid foods 3 times per day. He was wearing some 3/6 and some 6/9 months in clothes, a size 3 in diapers and a 2 in shoes.
In the summer Nancy and her 4 girls came down and stayed with us for a month! Gabe loved having them here and it was nice to get a break too! He loved getting in the pool and going swimming with them too! He had a great 4th of july and loved having family over, going to a concert, and watching fireworks for the 1st time!
At 7 months, Gabe was sitting independently and was rolling over both ways too! FINALLY! he was wearing some 3/6 but mostly 6/9 mos, a 3 in diapers, and a 3 in shoes.
At 8 months old, Gabe was crawling everywhere and was starting to pull up on things! he also started holding his own bottle too! Gabe wore anywhere from a 6 mos to a 12 mos in clothes, a 3-4 in diapers, and a 3-4 in shoes.
At 9 months, Gabe was a little ball of energy! He was crawling real fast, pulling up on everyhthing and was putting everything in his mouth, and climbing on everything. he was 19lb. 5 oz. and was 25.5 inches at his check up. he was still wearing anywhere from a 6-12 mos. in clothes, a 3-4 in diapers, and a 3-4 in shoes. He was eating stage 2 and 3 baby foods, finger foods, and some table foods, oh and yogurt. And he finally cut his 1st tooth, 2 as a matter of fact!
At 10 months, not much was different with Gabe. He lost some weight from being sick! he was still wearing a 6-12 mos in clothes, a 3-4 in diapers and a 3-4 in shoes.
Gabe was a monkey on his 1st Halloween! He loved going out trunk or treating and he liked eating the candy too! He also got to go to the fair for the 1st time, carnivals, Boo in the Zoo, and to the Pumpkin Patch for the very 1st time! He loved it!
At 11 months Gabe was just a sweet sweet baby! He was pulling up on everything and crusing around everything. he could push toys and walk while holding on to things. he was still wearing a 6-12 months in clothes, a 3-4 in diapers, and a 3-4 in shoes!!!
Today at 1 year old Gabe is a sweet cute little monkey! He climbs on everything, crawls super fast, and can walk like up to 10 steps on his own. he is eating some stage 3 foods, toddler foods, finger foods, and table foods. he loves to eat. He has his check up tomorrow. He wears a 9 mos and 12 mos in clothes, a 3-4 in diapers and a 3-4 in shoes. he also cut his top 2 teeth which brings the total to 4!
